Commercial Heat Pump Systems

Commercial heat pumps and systems can be designed for almost all commercial applications and these can be integrated into the building management system for on-site or remote monitoring and control, to include metering, as required.

Heat Pumps Direct commercial services work with M&E Consultants, Architects, Surveyors, Mechanical and Main Contractors, Developers, Schools and Colleges to provide cost effective heat pump solutions geared to provide business energy savings.

The choice of system can broadly be divided into two types and will principally be determined by how you wish to distribute heat in the building. This can either be done using hot air or with hot water through an under-floor heating system or oversized radiators:

Commercial Air Source Pumps:

Air to Air Heat Pumps

These warm air systems are intended for efficient and economical cost-saving heating in large-volume spaces such as warehouses, stockrooms, factories and production halls. Certain models can be used for space cooling.

Where cooling is only required in certain parts of a building for comfort or product storage, it is possible to reduce costs by heating water with the waste heat removed from space cooling. These types of system in effect allow the excess heat to be recovered and delivered into hot water for space heating, domestic hot water or leisure applications.

They are very efficient, particularly when operating in mixed mode for simultaneous cooling and heating. The energy consumption is dictated by the larger demand, heating or cooling, and the lesser demand, cooling or heating is then delivered free.

Indoor Pump with Pipework

Air to Water Heat Pumps

These systems provide both hot water and heat. The heat is delivered using hot water through an under-floor heating system or oversized radiators.

These heat pumps are ideally suited to Hotels, Restaurants, Hospitals, Schools, Swimmimg pools and Offices or any commercial project with a regular demand for hot water.

There are also air source heat pumps that can be used for heat recovery by collecting excess heat from for example, server rooms and production areas.

Outdoor Pumps

Commercial Ground Source (Geothermal) Heat Pumps

Commercial Ground Source Heat Pumps are used for similar applications to air source heat pumps but rely on a ground loop or borehole for their heat source. They are generally more efficient but more costly than air source heat pumps

Larger commercial systems tend to require a three phase electrical supply, however installations can be moduled using a bank of pumps to accommodate greater loads.

Heat Pumps Direct are specialist suppliers and are able to size, specify and supply the most appropriate system for your needs taking account of any site constraints and budgetary restrictions.

Alternatively, we can provide a fully accredited turnkey solution and working with contractors, our heat pump installers can ensure the timely, efficient installation of your commercial heat pump and associated systems.

New commercial ground source heat pumps qualify for grant assistance under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) providing a return on the additional capital invested when compared to conventional systems.
